About the Role
We are seeking a sharp, analytically driven, self-starter, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Analyst to join our M&A team at a leading telecommunications company. In this role, you will support the evaluation, execution, and integration of strategic transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and minority investments across the telecom landscape — spanning wireless, broadband, fiber infrastructure, tower assets, and emerging connectivity technologies. You will work directly with senior leadership to shape the company's inorganic growth strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive financial modeling and valuation analyses (DCF, investment returns based on industry and company standard assumptions, analysis, precedent transactions, LBO, equity transactions, accretion/dilution) for potential acquisition targets and strategic investments within the telecommunications sector, specifically in the tower space.
Perform industry and market research on telecom sub-sectors, including 5G infrastructure, fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), tower companies, data centers, satellite communications, and adjacent technology markets to identify acquisition opportunities and assess competitive dynamics.
Support due diligence efforts by coordinating with internal stakeholders (finance, legal, network engineering, regulatory, operations) and external advisors (brokers, investment bankers, consultants, law firms) to evaluate financial, operational, technical, and regulatory aspects of target opportunities.
Build detailed operating models incorporating telecom-specific KPIs such as lease-up growth assumptions, network capex and opex, tower tenancy ratios, Tower Cashflow, and EBITDA margins.
Prepare executive presentations, investment memoranda, and executive briefing materials that clearly communicate transaction rationale, financial impact, synergy opportunities, and risk factors.
Track and maintain a pipeline of pending, ongoing, potential targets, monitor industry transaction activity, and provide regular market updates to leadership on competitor M&A activity and valuation trends.
Support post-merger integration planning by quantifying synergies, verifying as-bought data, financials, and tracking integration milestones against deal thesis assumptions.
Be highly productive and able to work on multiple opportunities at the same time with tight timelines and turnaround times. Work as part of the overall corporate development team and be a strong team player.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, or a related quantitative field; strong academic record required.
2–4 years of experience in investment banking (preferably TMT coverage), corporate development, private equity, transaction advisory services, or equity research with telecom/media sector focus.
Advanced financial modeling skills with demonstrated proficiency in Excel, including three-statement modeling, valuation methodologies, and scenario/sensitivity analysis.
Strong understanding of telecommunications industry fundamentals, including business models for wireless carriers, cable operators, fiber providers, tower companies, and infrastructure-as-a-service providers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analyses into clear, executive-ready presentations using PowerPoint.
Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
MBA, CFA designation (or progress toward), or master's degree in a relevant field.
Direct experience working on telecom M&A transactions or covering the TMT sector at a bulge-bracket or middle-market investment bank.
Familiarity with telecom regulatory frameworks, spectrum auctions, USF/RDOF programs, and broadband infrastructure funding initiatives.
Experience with financial databases and research tools such as Capital IQ, FactSet, Bloomberg, PitchBook, and SNL Kagan.
Knowledge of network technologies (5G, fiber optics, satellite, IoT) sufficient to engage substantively with technical due diligence teams.
Compensation Range
Base salary – $105K plus 15% annual bonus
Comprehensive health and wellness benefits, 401(k), generous PTO, professional development support and the opportunity to work on transformative deals shaping the future of connectivity.
