As the Financial Controller, you will be the absolute custodian of the hotel’s financial health. You will work closely with the General Manager and Department Heads to steer revenue strategy, optimize costs, and ensure strict compliance. This is not just a bookkeeping role; it is a strategic leadership position requiring robust analytical skills, an assertive management style, and a deep understanding of hospitality metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management & Control: Oversee all financial accounting functions, including credit control, accounts receiver/payable, payroll, cash flow management, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Profitability & Metrics Optimization: Closely monitor, analyze, and report on key hospitality metrics (RevPAR, ARR, GOP, and departmental margins) to identify revenue leaks and cost-saving opportunities.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Drive the annual budgeting process and provide accurate monthly, quarterly, and rolling financial forecasts to guide operational decisions.
- Compliance & Auditing: Establish, implement, and maintain rigorous internal control policies and procedures to ensure absolute compliance with local tax regulations and accounting standards.
- Strategic Partnership: Act as a core business advisor to the GM and HODs, delivering transparent, detailed financial simulations and cost-benefit analyses for ongoing and future hotel projects.
- Team Leadership: Mentor, lead, and elevate the performance of the finance and accounting team, promoting a culture of accuracy, accountability, and dead-line precision.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of proven experience as a Financial Controller, Chief Accountant, or Assistant Controller, specifically within the hospitality industry.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. Professional certifications (CA/CPA) are a major advantage.
- Technical Mastery: Deep proficiency with Hotel Property Management Systems (PMS), VHP, or equivalent hospitality accounting software, alongside advanced Excel skills.
- Skills: Expert knowledge of Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI), tax regulations, and internal audit frameworks.
- Attributes: Strong leadership presence, analytical mind, exceptional firmness in upholding financial discipline, and excellent communication skills to deliver financial insights to non-financial managers.
