Overview
Finance Manager Jobs in Brisbane City, Queensland, Australia at P&C Partners
Title: Finance Manager
Company: P&C Partners
Location: Brisbane City, Queensland, Australia
The Company
There are businesses that talk about growth and businesses that have actually done it. This one sits firmly in the second category. This ASX-listed investment management firm has built one of the most compelling stories in Australian financial services, not by managing money directly, but by identifying, backing and supporting a stable of world-class investment managers, giving them the infrastructure, distribution and capability to focus entirely on delivering investment excellence.
The result is a diversified portfolio of nineteen affiliated managers collectively overseeing more than $200 billion in assets across Australia, the UK and North America. Less than a decade ago that number was $38 billion. The growth since then is not a slide in a pitch deck. It is a genuine operational achievement, built on a philosophy of supported independence that has proven itself as a real and lasting competitive advantage.
The finance function sits at the centre of this model, supporting a multi-affiliate, multi-jurisdiction platform from a Brisbane base, with a growing presence now being established in the UK. It is a fast-moving, genuinely complex environment led by people who have been here long enough to know exactly how it works and ambitious enough to keep making it better.
The Role
This is not a role for someone who wants to stay in their lane. The Finance Manager owns their allocated affiliate entities end to end, from month-end close and group consolidations through to statutory accounts, board reporting, cash management and statutory compliance across Australian and UK regulated entities. The people on the other side of the table are affiliate CEOs and MDs. They are financially sophisticated and they expect the same from their finance counterparts.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will also mentor and develop junior finance associates across your entities. The Head of Finance leads by example, rolls up her sleeves without hesitation and expects the same from the people around her. If you consider yourself above the detail, this is not your role. If you thrive in complexity, take pride in the quality of your work and want to actively build the people around you, keep reading.
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Owning end-to-end month-end close for allocated affiliate entities, including journals, accruals, prepayments and adjustments
- Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations across multi-currency, multi-entity structures
- Running group consolidations across Australian, UK and international entities including foreign currency subsidiaries
- Preparing statutory accounts, general purpose financial statements and overseeing the external audit process
- Preparing and delivering management reporting, financial analysis, budgets and forecasts to management and Boards
- Liaising directly with affiliate CEOs and MDs for quarterly reporting and board-level financial deliverables
- Managing cash and treasury across allocated entities
- Preparing and submitting BAS, PAYG, VAT and other statutory obligations across Australian and UK regulated entities
- Overseeing payroll and supporting day-to-day finance including AP and AR in conjunction with finance associates
- Reviewing and improving business processes, particularly within acquired or transitioning entities
- Mentoring and developing finance associates across allocated entities, actively investing in the growth of the junior team
About You
You have come through Big 4 or mid-tier audit or business services, you have made the move into a commercial environment, and you have not looked back. That transition matters here. Candidates who have arrived straight from public practice and attempted to learn the realities of a corporate finance environment on the job have struggled with the pace and breadth of this model. This role needs someone for whom posting journals from scratch, running consolidations across competing priorities and managing multiple entities simultaneously are already second nature. You communicate proactively, manage competing demands without dropping the ball and when the environment speeds up, which it will, you find your rhythm rather than losing it. You also take the mentoring side seriously, not as an obligation, but as a genuine and rewarding part of what you do.
Skills & Experience
To be effective in this role, you will likely bring:
- A Big 4 or mid-tier background from an audit or business services division, paired with solid commercial experience in a corporate finance environment
- Strong month-end capability across journals, accruals, reconciliations and balance sheet review
- Experience with group consolidations, multi-entity structures and multi-currency reporting
- Statutory accounts preparation and external audit management experience
- CA or CPA qualified
- Strong systems aptitude and comfort with technology-driven process improvement, experience with Xero or similar consolidation tools well regarded
- Experience in financial services will be a bonus, though candidates from other sectors with the right technical foundation are strongly encouraged to apply.
What's On Offer
This is a rare opportunity to step inside one of the most impressive growth stories in Australian financial services, joining a finance function that has scaled alongside a business that has grown its funds under management more than fivefold in under a decade, and is not finished yet.
The role offers genuine breadth across month-end, consolidations, statutory accounts, board reporting, treasury, payroll and compliance across Australian and UK entities, alongside direct engagement with affiliate CEOs and MDs that is genuinely uncommon at this stage of a finance career. The structure is deliberately flat, with real access to senior leadership and a Head of Finance who has built this function from the ground up and is deeply invested in the people around her.
A competitive salary package including discretionary bonus, hybrid working, paid volunteer leave and donation matching is on offer, aligned to the experience and capability you bring.
