Job Description

We are seeking a suitably qualified and meticulous Finance Manager to take ownership of our full financial function, internal HR oversight, and resource administration. This role is pivotal in maintaining financial health, donor trust, and regulatory compliance to support our vital social impact work.

Roles and Responsibilities

Key Performance Areas

  • Financial Accounting & Bookkeeping: Maintain and update complete financial records using Xero. Perform bank reconciliations and manage accounts payable and receivable.
  • Cash & Asset Management: Oversee the organisation's petty cash system. Maintain the asset register and provide oversight of physical resources.
  • Payroll & HR Administration: Process and manage monthly staff payroll. Complete associated administrative tasks and act as the internal liaison to our external HR Consultant.
  • Donor & Budget Management: Assist with annual budget preparation. Set up restricted fund tracking and generate comprehensive financial reports for donors.
  • Financial Reporting & Audits: Prepare and review accurate monthly management accounts. Compile yearly audit packs and act as the primary liaison to resolve auditor queries.
  • Compliance & Taxation: Ensure absolute compliance with all South African statutory and legislative requirements. Manage all SARS submissions and ensure timely payment processing.
  • Executive Support: Perform select administrative tasks and diverse duties to support the CEO and broader team.

Qualifications And Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., B.Com Accounting).
  • Registration with controlling body is highly advantageous.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of financial accounting experience, with a strong preference for experience gained within the South African NPO/NGO sector.

Technical Skills

  • Proven track record in full-function financial management.
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically with Xero accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Licence

  • Valid, unendorsed Code 08 driver’s licence.

Mindset

  • A strong inclination for constantly improving financial systems and processes.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
