Curious Food Group is an ambitious and growing hospitality collective operating across Wales and the South West.

Our portfolio includes our flagship events business, We Are Epic Caterers Ltd, alongside Square + Fair, our expanding high street coffee brand focused on quality, community, and standout customer experience.

At the centre of this role sits We Are Epic Caterers Ltd: a premium events and catering business delivering over 800 events annually, including luxury weddings, corporate events, and private chef experiences.

We are now seeking an exceptional Managing Director / COO to take operational leadership of this business and play a key role in shaping the wider group’s future.

The Opportunity

This is a high-impact leadership position for a commercially driven operator who knows how to scale a business without compromising on quality.

You will take ownership of a well-established, high-performing events company and help refine, structure, and grow it into the next phase, while contributing to the broader vision of Curious Food Group and its expanding brand portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall operations and performance of We Are Epic Caterers Ltd
  • Drive operational efficiency, scalability, and consistency across a high-volume events business
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team across multiple functions
  • Own financial performance, budgets, and profitability
  • Identify and execute growth opportunities across existing and new revenue streams
  • Elevate service delivery, food quality, and client experience
  • Work closely with founders on group strategy, including alignment with Square + Fair and future ventures

About You

We’re looking for a proven leader with the credibility and capability to run a complex, multi-faceted business.

  • Experience leading or managing a business with £5M+ turnover
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen
  • Proven track record of driving growth and improving performance
  • Outstanding leadership and people management skills
  • Background in hospitality, events, or a premium service-led environment
  • High-end events or wedding experience is advantageous, but not essential
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, execution-focused approach
  • Genuine passion for food, hospitality, and delivering exceptional experiences

Role Description

This is an on-site, full-time role based in Cardiff for a Chief Operating Officer (COO). The COO will oversee the operational functions of the group, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and alignment with strategic objectives. Core responsibilities include managing daily business operations, developing and executing strategic plans, leading financial planning and budgeting, and evaluating organizational performance. The COO will work closely with the CEO and other leadership team members to foster team growth, drive business development, and oversee long-term operational strategy execution.

Qualifications

  • Proven skills in Business Planning and Operations Management, with experience developing scalable systems and managing large-scale processes
  • Strong proficiency in Analytical Skills, as well as problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Expertise in Finance and Budgeting, including managing budgets and financial forecasting
  • Outstanding leadership abilities, communication skills, and a proven track record of building and leading strong teams
  • Preferred qualifications include experience in the hospitality or food service industry and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field

Competitive salary of £80,000 – £100,000

With bonus structure, potential share options.
