We are partnering with a leading global hedge fund to hire an analyst focused on US macro-driven equity investing. This individual will sit within a discretionary macro pod and be responsible for generating and executing equity ideas driven by top-down macro themes. This is a high-impact seat supporting a senior PM where the focus is on translating macro views into actionable equity trades (long/short) across sectors and market regimes. The role combines macro research, thematic investing, and fundamental equity analysis.
Responsibilities
- Generate long/short equity ideas based on macroeconomic themes (rates, inflation, growth cycles, policy shifts)
- Translate top-down macro views into sector positioning and single-name opportunities
- Conduct deep fundamental analysis to support trade construction (financial modeling, industry/channel work)
- Identify catalysts and timing drivers to express macro views in equities
- Monitor portfolio exposures and continuously refine theses based on evolving macro data
- Work closely with the PM on trade structuring, risk management, and position sizing
- Track global macro developments (Fed policy, fiscal dynamics, geopolitical risk) and assess market impact
- Contribute to portfolio construction and cross-asset idea generation where relevant
Background
- 2-6 years of experience in:
- Hedge fund / asset management (macro or L/S equity)
- Sell-side equity research (top-tier platform)
- Macro research or strategy roles with equity exposure
- Strong understanding of:
- US macroeconomics and policy dynamics
- Equity factor positioning and sector sensitivities to macro
- Demonstrated ability to form independent investment views and variant perspectives
- Experience linking macro themes to equity valuation and price action
- Strong modeling and analytical skillset
