One of our major luxury fashion clients is currently seeking a Staff Accountant for their NYC office.
Role is in office 3 days a week and 2 days remote in midtown NYC.
There is not set end date for this freelance support at this time.
The Staff Accountant role involves supporting accounting processes, month-end close, and finance projects while ensuring accurate financial reporting and ledger maintenance, requiring a bachelor’s degree and over three years of accounting experience with expertise in U.S. GAAP, SAP, and technical accounting, reporting directly to the Vice President Finance of Americas
RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process journal entries.
- Ensure month end closing activities including reconciliation, fixed assets and analysis are performed accurately and on time.
- Reconciliate accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Support accounting team during SAP S/4 implementation, ad hoc requests and ongoing project.
- Prepare financial reports related to accounts payable, including aged payables and cash flow forecasts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Management, Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred.
- 3+years of accounting experience, preferably within a multinational environment.
- Previous retail experience as advantage.
Requirements Include
- Well-organized with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Oversee part of the month-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare and post journal entries with accounting standards.
- Oversee the general ledger by accurately documenting and reconciling every transaction.
- Prepare account reconciliations to verify the accuracy of financial data.
- Technical accounting and external reporting expertise including of U.S. GAAP, close process, and financial reporting systems.
- Excel in technical skills with strong attention to detail and effective problem-solving.
- Multitasking, problem-solving, analytical abilities, and proficiency in managing complex data.
- Previous experience with SAP, IFRS16 and Fixed assets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
