Sr Manager, Accounting Jobs in San Francisco, CA at Uber

Title: Sr Manager, Accounting

Company: Uber

Location: San Francisco, CA

About The Role

Uber’s scale and complexity – spanning ride-sharing, delivery, freight, advertising, and financial services across 70+ countries – demand a world-class revenue accounting infrastructure that is accurate, automated, and audit-ready at every moment.

As Senior Manager of the Revenue Accounting Platform team, you will own the systems, data, and tooling that power Uber’s global revenue accounting. This is a high-impact, cross-functional leadership role sitting at the intersection of accounting, engineering, and finance technology. You will partner deeply with Revenue Accounting Operations, FinTech, FinEng, and Technical Accounting to ensure that Uber’s revenue subledger, reconciliation frameworks, and close automation platforms are scalable, controlled, and capable of supporting the company’s next phase of growth. You will lead a team of revenue accounting systems professionals and drive a multi-year platform modernization roadmap.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the Revenue Accounting Platform end-to-end – including subledger architecture, revenue data pipelines, billing system integrations, and reconciliation tooling – ensuring accuracy, completeness, and auditability of all revenue data flowing into Uber’s general ledger.
  • Lead platform strategy and roadmap – define the multi-year vision for revenue accounting systems in partnership with FinTech and Accounting Operations; prioritize investments that drive scalability, automation, and close acceleration across Mobility, Delivery, Freight, and Ads business lines.
  • Drive close automation and efficiency – identify opportunities to reduce manual accounting effort through system-driven solutions; lead end-to-end implementation of automation initiatives from requirements through deployment, change management, and steady-state operations.
  • Ensure platform controls and SOX compliance – design, implement, and maintain a robust IT general controls and application controls environment across revenue systems; partner with Internal Audit and External Auditors to support quarterly and annual audit cycles.
  • Partner cross-functionally at a senior level – serve as the primary accounting liaison to FinTech, FinEng, and Product teams; translate complex accounting requirements into actionable system specifications and ensure accounting needs are represented in all platform decisions.
  • Support new business launches and M&A integrations – lead the accounting systems workstream for new market entries, product launches, and acquired entity integrations; build scalable onboarding frameworks that bring new revenue streams into Uber’s control environment quickly and accurately.
  • Develop and grow the team – attract, retain, and develop a high-performing team of accounting systems managers and analysts; build a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
  • Contribute to long-term organizational strategy – actively shape the Revenue Accounting organization’s technology vision, define team OKRs and roadmaps, and act as a thought leader across the broader Finance organization on the intersection of accounting and technology.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting, financial systems, or accounting operations, with a minimum of 4+ years in a Revenue Accounting or Revenue Systems leadership role at a public company.
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Deep understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition standard

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with large-scale ERP platforms (Oracle EBS, Oracle Fusion, SAP, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with data pipeline concepts, SQL, and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker) sufficient to partner effectively with Fintech engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading large-scale systems implementations or finance transformation programs in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.
  • Strong command of SOX IT General Controls (ITGCs) and application controls in a complex systems landscape.
  • Exceptional project management skills – ability to drive multiple concurrent workstreams across FinTech, accounting, and business stakeholders, remove roadblocks, and deliver on time.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to translate technical system concepts to accounting audiences and accounting requirements to FinTech teams with equal fluency.
  • Self-motivated with a strong affinity for vision setting, strategic problem solving, and driving action in ambiguous environments.
  • Inquisitiveness, intellectual rigor, and the ability to get to the root of complex system or data issues and mobilize teams around solutions.
  • Embody the highest standards of integrity, ethics, and accountability.
  • Enthusiastic about Uber and the opportunity to build systems that underpin the financial integrity of one of the world’s most dynamic companies.
