A leading organisation is looking to appoint a nearly qualified Actuary to support its actuarial and analytics teams through advanced model development, technical pricing work, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
– Develop pricing models from first principles and enhance existing actuarial models.
– Apply advanced modelling techniques including GLMs, decision trees, machine learning models, and ensemble methods such as Gradient Boosting and XGBoost.
– Build and maintain modelling workflows using tools and libraries such as Python, pandas, scikit-learn, and XGBoost.
– Work extensively with Emblem to design, calibrate, and implement actuarial pricing models.
– Develop actuarial models across pricing, reserving, or capital modelling, depending on your area of expertise.
– Evaluate model performance, document methodologies, and translate outputs into clear business insights.
– Support automation initiatives and contribute to machine learning deployment processes.
– Collaborate with actuarial, analytics, and product teams to ensure robust modelling and strong commercial outcomes.
– Present technical findings and insights to key stakeholders and decision-makers.
Job Experience & Skills Required
Education:
– Nearly qualified Actuary with a minimum of 10 actuarial exams completed.
Experience:
– 5+ years experience in actuarial or data science roles (pricing, risk, or analytics).
– Demonstrated experience building actuarial models from first principles.
– Clear exposure to at least one core actuarial discipline: pricing, reserving, or capital modelling.
– Proven ability to deliver measurable business impact through modelling and analytics.
Technical
Skills:
– Strong proficiency in Emblem (essential).
– Experience with Python, R, SQL, and Power BI.
– Exposure to actuarial modelling platforms such as Emblem, Radar, or ResQ.
– Earnix experience would be advantageous.
– Knowledge of machine learning techniques, including GLMs, decision trees, gradient boosting, and ensemble modelling.
– Experience building automated analytical workflows and deploying models.
Commercial
Skills:
– Ability to translate complex datasets into clear, actionable business insights.
– Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders.
– Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
– Regulatory Advantage
– Exposure to regulatory frameworks such as SAM or IFRS 17 would be beneficial.
