Senior Staff Accountant Jobs in Falls Church, USA at Beacon Hill
We are partnering with a growing government contracting organization seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support day to day accounting operations and month end close. This is an excellent opportunity for an early career accounting professional to gain hands on experience in a fast paced, project based environment with strong visibility to leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and year end close processes
- Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals and prepaids
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances
- Assist with revenue recognition in accordance with government contracting standards
- Support billing and project setup in alignment with contract requirements
- Collaborate with program managers to ensure accurate financial reporting on projects
- Assist with audits, including DCAA and external financial audits
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Contribute to process improvements and system enhancements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2 – 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably within government contracting or professional services
- Understanding of GAAP and basic revenue recognition principles
- Exposure to project based accounting or job costing is a plus
- Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross functionally
Preferred
- Experience with Unanet or similar ERP systems
- Familiarity with DCAA compliance, FAR, or cost plus contracts
- Progress toward CPA certification is a plus
