About the Role
This is a high-impact, ground-floor leadership role for someone who wants to grow with a business — not just work in one. As our Director of Finance & Operations, you will serve as the owner's right hand in managing the day-to-day financial and operational functions of the company. This role is designed with a direct career path to Controller and ultimately CFO as the company scales.
You'll wear multiple hats — part financial analyst, part bookkeeper, part HR coordinator — and your work will directly influence the direction and health of the business.
What You'll Do
Financial & Accounting
- Maintain accurate books and financial records (bookkeeping, A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations)
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
- Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks
- Assist in cash flow management and short/long-term financial planning
- Coordinate with external CPA or tax advisor quarterly and at year-end
HR & People Operations
- Process payroll accurately and on time
- Manage onboarding and offboarding of employees
- Support hiring processes including job postings, screening, and offer letters
- Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with labor laws
- Assist in developing HR policies and employee handbook
Operations Support
- Work closely with the owner on strategic planning and business decisions
- Monitor KPIs and operational metrics
- Help identify process improvements to increase efficiency and profitability
- Assist with vendor relationships, contracts, and purchasing as needed
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
- 2–5 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a similar role
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks preferred) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive financial and HR data
- Self-starter who can work independently and thrives in a small business environment
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Preferred (not required):
- Experience in a small or family-owned business
- Exposure to HR or payroll systems (Gusto, ADP, etc.)
- CPA or working toward CPA licensure

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $45,000 – $65,000 depending on experience
