About the Job

The Junior Financial & IBA Accounts role supports reinsurance and financial accounting activities, including reconciliations, reporting, and coordination with underwriting and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform day-to-day accounting and operational activities, including maintaining books of accounts, transaction booking, billing, collections, and cash allocations.
  • Prepare accounting vouchers such as Receipts, Payments, Petty Cash, and Journal Vouchers as required.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with monthly financial close activities, including preparation of financial statements, cash flow management, payments, and management reporting.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation and ensuring compliance with established controls.
  • Work closely with Underwriters to review complex reinsurance transactions from an accounting perspective.
  • Review reinsurance technical accounts, including commission adjustments, profit commissions, and premium adjustments.
  • Review, record, and monitor collections and payments related to reinsurance technical accounts.
  • Record reinsurance payables and receivables accurately in the general ledger.
  • Reconcile all reinsurance activities, including reinsurance payable and recoverable accounts.
  • Review, reconcile, and follow up on outstanding balances with ceding companies.
  • Coordinate with the Operations team to ensure all policies are accurately accounted for on a monthly basis.
  • Demonstrate strong multitasking abilities by working across multiple systems and accounts while managing tight deadlines and shifting priorities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent insurance industry work experience.
  • 2–5 years of relevant work experience, preferably within an insurance company, reinsurance broker, or reinsurance company.
  • Proficiency in digital office tools, including MS Office Suite.
  • Basic ability to read and understand insurance and reinsurance policies and contracts.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across teams.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
