Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Investment Analyst to join our Cape Town office.
This is a front-office transaction role offering significant responsibility from day one. The successful candidate will work directly alongside senior professionals on live mandates, supporting capital raises across Africa and Europe while interacting regularly with institutional investors, lenders and corporate clients.
The role is ideally suited to professionals with 2–10 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, private credit, infrastructure advisory, project finance, transaction services or private equity who are looking for greater responsibility and direct exposure to originating and executing transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse companies, infrastructure projects and investment opportunities across multiple sectors.
- Build and review complex financial models, valuation analyses and transaction structures.
- Prepare investment memoranda, teasers, financial models and investor presentations.
- Execute debt and equity capital-raising mandates from inception through to financial close.
- Conduct commercial, financial and market due diligence.
- Engage directly with institutional investors, banks, private credit funds and strategic investors.
- Participate in management meetings, investor presentations and transaction negotiations.
- Support business development initiatives and help identify new transaction opportunities.
- Assist in managing live transaction processes, data rooms and investor communications.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- 2–10 years' professional experience in investment banking, corporate finance, project finance, infrastructure advisory, private equity, debt advisory or a related transaction environment.
- Strong analytical and commercial judgement.
- Excellent financial modelling and valuation skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
- Confidence interacting with senior executives, institutional investors and lenders.
- High levels of initiative, accountability and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple live transactions simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Science, Economics, Commerce or a related discipline.
- 2–10 years of relevant transaction experience.
- Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and financial modelling.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of capital markets.
Advantageous
- CA(SA), CFA Charterholder or CFA Candidate.
- Experience in renewable energy, infrastructure or project finance.
- Exposure to African and/or European capital markets.
- Experience raising debt or equity capital.
- Existing relationships with institutional investors or lenders.
- Experience building integrated financial models, DCFs, project finance or LBO models.
