Albert Wines & Spirits is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to lead and oversee the company’s financial operations, reporting, compliance, and planning.
As one of Malaysia’s leading distributors of premium wines, spirits, and beverages, we operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment spanning distribution, retail, HORECA, e-commerce, and brand development.
We are looking for a strong and experienced finance leader who can provide accurate financial visibility, strengthen internal controls, support Management in strategic decision-making, and lead the Finance team effectively.
About the Role
The Head of Finance will be responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of the company’s finance and accounting functions.
This includes financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management, tax and statutory compliance, internal controls, financial analysis, and team leadership.
The successful candidate will work closely with Senior Management and Department Heads to provide financial insights, improve cost control, strengthen financial processes, and support the company’s growth and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Management
- Lead the company’s financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Provide financial insights, analysis, and recommendations to Management to support strategic and commercial decision-making.
- Monitor business performance, profitability, margins, expenses, and working capital.
- Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support business growth and investment decisions.
- Identify financial risks, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for improved efficiency.
Accounting, Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee the full spectrum of accounting and finance operations.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly management accounts, financial statements, and reporting packages.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian accounting standards, tax requirements, statutory obligations, and internal company policies.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, company secretaries, and relevant authorities.
- Ensure proper financial documentation, reconciliations, and supporting records are maintained.
Cash Flow & Financial Control
- Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow, working capital, collections, and payment obligations.
- Strengthen internal financial controls, approval processes, and financial policies.
- Review and monitor receivables, payables, inventory exposure, credit control, and company expenses.
- Ensure effective controls are in place across purchasing, payments, claims, credit terms, and financial commitments.
- Work closely with Sales, Operations, Logistics, Warehouse, and other departments to improve financial discipline and accountability.
Management Reporting & Business Analysis
- Prepare and present financial performance reports to Senior Management.
- Analyse revenue, gross profit margins, operating expenses, and departmental performance.
- Develop financial dashboards and reporting tools to improve Management visibility.
- Support pricing, margin analysis, sales performance reviews, and business profitability assessments.
- Provide financial analysis for new projects, business opportunities, partnerships, and investments.
Team Leadership
- Lead, manage, and develop the Finance and Accounts team.
- Establish clear responsibilities, reporting structures, and performance expectations within the department.
- Review existing workflows and improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial processes.
- Build a strong culture of accountability, accuracy, and timely reporting within the Finance team.
- Work closely with other Department Heads to improve cross-functional communication and financial awareness.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 6–8 years of relevant experience in Finance and Accounting, including a senior leadership or management position.
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian accounting standards, taxation, audit requirements, and statutory compliance.
- Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
- Proven experience managing and developing a Finance or Accounts team.
- Experience in FMCG, retail, distribution, trading, or related industries is highly advantageous.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP or accounting systems.
- Experience with Power BI, reporting dashboards, and presentation tools is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
