Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance / VP of Finance to lead their finance function at a high-growth SaaS company generating ~$30M in annual recurring revenue. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for building scalable accounting, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), and operational finance processes that support rapid growth, investor reporting, and data-driven decision making.
The ideal candidate will bring deep SaaS expertise, a strong technology orientation, and a proven ability to implement modern finance systems and automation. You will partner closely with the executive team, product, sales, and operations leaders to drive financial strategy, optimize unit economics, and scale the business efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
**Accounting & Financial Operations**
– Own all accounting functions, including month-end close, financial statement preparation, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and compliance with GAAP.
– Manage payroll, AP/AR, tax filings, and cash flow forecasting.
– Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for internal stakeholders, board meetings, and external investors/lenders.
– Build and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures as the company scales.
Corporate & Operational FP&A
– Lead corporate FP&A: annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, variance analysis, and long-range planning.
– Drive operational FP&A across sales, marketing, product, and customer success teams — including cohort analysis, churn modeling, and go-to-market economics.
– Develop and track key SaaS metrics (ARR/MRR, NRR/GRR, CAC, LTV, Magic Number, Rule of 40, burn multiple, etc.).
– Provide insightful financial analysis and scenario modeling to support strategic decisions, pricing, and investment cases.
Process Implementation & Systems Leadership
– Design, document, and continuously improve end-to-end accounting and finance processes.
– Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of finance technology platforms (ERP, CPQ, revenue automation, BI tools, etc.).
– Leverage automation, AI, and modern tooling to eliminate manual work, improve data accuracy, and deliver real-time visibility (e.g., integrating Salesforce, Stripe, NetSuite, Workday, or similar).
– Act as the primary finance systems owner — driving data integrity between CRM, billing, accounting, and analytics platforms.
Leadership & Team Development
– Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team (accounting, FP&A, and operations roles).
– Serve as a strategic business partner to the executive team and department leaders.
– Support fundraising, M&A due diligence, and board/investor communications as needed.
Required Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
– 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3–5 years in a SaaS or technology company (ideally at the $10M–$50M ARR stage).
– Deep understanding of SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606), subscription metrics, and unit economics.
– Proven success implementing finance processes and technology systems (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Salesforce, Stripe Billing, Adaptive Insights, Power BI/Tableau, or equivalents).
– Strong experience leading both accounting and FP&A functions in a scaling environment.
– Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Preferred Qualifications (“Great to Have”)
– Hands-on experience with modern finance tech stack and automation tools.
– Experience supporting international expansion, multi-entity reporting, or global tax considerations.
– Demonstrated track record of building finance functions from the ground up or scaling them through $50M+ ARR.
