We are currently seeking a seasoned and forward thinking Head of Finance to join a growing organization in the warehousing and logistics sector. This is a direct hire, opportunity offering long term stability and career growth. In this role, you will work closely with executive leadership, including the CEO, and play a key part in shaping financial strategy, driving operational excellence, and supporting overall business growth

Location: Waterloo Region

Schedule: Flexible (8:00-4:00 / 8:30-4:30 / 9:00-5:00)

Work Model: 100% On-site

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead overall financial strategy, planning, and execution for the business unit
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and performance analysis
  • Ensure strong financial governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks
  • Oversee cash flow, liquidity, receivables, and banking relationships
  • Drive financial transparency through data analysis and actionable insights
  • Lead investment planning, business case development, and financial evaluations
  • Support mergers & acquisitions, due diligence, and integration activities
  • Collaborate with senior leadership (including CEO) to support strategic decision-making
  • Oversee financial operations including accounting, controlling, and reporting processes
  • Manage and develop finance team; mentor and build a high-performing culture
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (operations, procurement, facilities, etc.)
  • Ensure audit readiness and compliance with accounting standards and regulations
  • Support digital transformation and automation of finance processes
  • Contribute to special projects such as restructuring, cost optimization, and growth initiatives
  • Communicate financial performance, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders clearly

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $120,000 – $140,000 per annum (based on experience)
  • Other benefits included – RRSP, Health insurance.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive finance experience (leadership experience preferred)
  • Professional designation (CPA, CFA, MBA) is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, reporting, compliance, and corporate finance
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Workday, ADP, Excel or similar tools)
  • Background in logistics, warehousing, distribution, or 3PL sector preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work closely with senior leadership and external partners
  • High level of analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (including U.S.)
  • Valid passport (or ability to obtain one)
