Head of Accounting Greece

JOB DESCRIPTION

As Head of Accounting, you will lead the accounting team and function across two legal entities, acting as the primary point of contact for local accounting matters, collaborating closely with Global Business Services (GBS) and all relevant stakeholders. Ensuring complete, accurate, and compliant accounting management in line with local tax legislation and international accounting standards (Greek GAAP / IFRS).

Accounting & Financial Responsibilities

Act as the local accounting representative in communication with GBS and external parties

Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes — including preparation of financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for management and external stakeholders — providing active support to GBS and Controlling during closing.

Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements (direct and indirect filings, including timely MyDATA submissions); keep GBS and the business updated on relevant legislative changes and requirements.

Review local contracts and agreements, ensuring proper coordination with GBS for accurate and timely postings.

Liaise with external auditors during annual audit processes.

Ensure all accounting activities are carried out in accordance with internal policies and procedures, maintaining standards that meet Internal Audit requirements and support a strong internal control environment.

Team Management & Collaboration

Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Act as the main point of contact for GBS, external parties, and cross-functional departments including Controlling, Treasury, and Tax, serving as a key reference for technical accounting matters across the organization.

Support the CFO with ad hoc financial analysis and strategic initiatives.

Technical & Functional Skills

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Knowledge of Greek tax regulations and transfer pricing.

Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE

Class A Licensed Accountant.

Progressive accounting experience of 8-10+ years.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Strong knowledge of Greek GAAP and IFRS.

Hands-on SAP ERP experience including SAP Business Object.

Digital reporting tools (MyDATA / e-books) are a prerequisite.

Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or FMCG environment.

Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CA) is a strong advantage.

Experience in a multinational or group structure is a strong advantage
