KPMG Talent (P5+) Limited is supporting a client with the recruitment of a Group Chief Financial Officer. Our client is a well-established Group of companies operating within a dynamic consumer-focused sector in Malta. The business is undergoing continued growth and transformation and is seeking to appoint a strategic and commercially minded CFO to join its leadership team.
Role Purpose
The Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will lead the financial strategy and operations of the organisation, ensuring strong governance, disciplined performance management, and high-quality decision support.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and senior leadership team, the Group CFO will play a key role in shaping the organisation’s financial direction while supporting business performance and growth.
The role combines strategic leadership, commercial partnership, and functional oversight, supported by an established finance team.
Responsibilities of the Group CFO:
Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership
• Partner closely with the CEO to define and deliver the Group’s financial and strategic objectives
• Provide forward-looking financial insight and scenario analysis to support key business decisions
• Translate financial performance into actionable insights for commercial and operational leadership
Financial Control, Governance & Risk

• Establish and maintain robust financial controls, policies, and governance frameworks across all Group entities
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, and financial reporting requirements
• Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and external advisors
Delegation of Execution & Team Leadership
• Oversee the finance function through effective delegation to the Financial Controller and wider team
• Ensure clear accountability for day-to-day financial operations, reporting, and compliance
• Provide leadership, direction, and development opportunities to finance team members
• Maintain appropriate balance between strategic oversight and operational visibility
Operational transformation and coordination
• Lead the transformation of the finance function, strengthening and formalising finance processes, reporting, and decision support capabilities
• Act as a coordination point for operational matters, ensuring cross-functional priorities are clearly defined and executed
Stakeholder Management
• Act as the primary financial interface for internal and external stakeholders
• Build and maintain relationships with:
• Board and shareholders
• Banks, auditors, and advisors
• Senior leadership and business unit heads
• Represent the Group on financial and governance matters
Knowledge and skill requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications
• Fully qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent)
• A solid background in Financial Management and Leadership
• Minimum of 10 years’ post-qualification experience in a CFO or similar Senior Financial Leadership position
Experience
• Experience working in a similar economic context and/or industry is considered an asset
• Proven track record in transforming finance functions
• Demonstrated ability to act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership
