Record to Report (R2R) – Job Description
Role Overview
The Record to Report (R2R) function is responsible for managing the end-to-end accounting process, ensuring accurate financial records, timely financial close, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and review general ledger accounting activities
- Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts (e.g. bank, intercompany, fixed assets, accruals)
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports
- Ensure compliance with IFRS / GAAP and internal control requirements
- Support audit activities (internal and external) by providing documentation and explanations
- Perform variance and trend analysis and investigate discrepancies
- Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations
- Support process improvements, automation, and standardization initiatives
- Coordinate with P2P, O2C, FP&A, and Tax teams to resolve accounting issues
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting and reporting
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, etc.)
- Proficiency in Excel and financial analysis tools
- Ability to work with tight deadlines during closing cycles
- Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is an advantage
- 1–5+ years of experience in R2R / Financial Accounting (depending on seniority)
