LSG Hobby is one of North America's leading distributors of hobby products, representing internationally recognized brands across plastic models, hobby paints, tools, collectibles, and tabletop gaming. With operations in Canada and the United States, we're a growing entrepreneurial company that believes finance should help drive the business, not simply report on it.
We're looking for a Finance Manager who is commercially minded, naturally curious, and enjoys using financial insight to support better business decisions.

What You'll Be Responsible For
Financial Leadership
- Lead the monthly and year-end financial reporting process.
- Prepare consolidated financial statements for our Canadian and U.S. operations.
- Analyze financial performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and strategic decision-making.
- Provide financial insights that help improve profitability and business performance.
Treasury & Financial Operations
- Manage supplier payments, banking, and treasury activities.
- Oversee foreign exchange transactions and currency exposure.
- Manage inter-company funding and banking relationships.
- Review customer credit insurance and financial risk.
Accounting & Controls
- Ensure accurate month-end close and financial reporting.
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and GST/HST filings.
- Monitor exchange gains and losses and maintain ERP financial data.
- Review general ledger accounts and investigate unusual variances.
- Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes.
Leadership
- Lead and mentor a small accounting team.
- Establish efficient processes and high standards of accuracy.
- Work closely with the CEO and department leaders to support business growth.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, reporting, and operational efficiency.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding how a business works—not just how to account for it.
You should have:
- Approximately 5–7 years of experience at a recognized accounting firm (such as Grant Thornton, BDO, MNP, Baker Tilly, RSM, or a Big Four firm)
- Strong financial reporting and analytical skills
- Excellent business judgment and commercial awareness
- Exceptional attention to detail
- A proactive, hands-on mindset
- The confidence to ask questions, challenge assumptions, and recommend improvements
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Nice to Have
- CPA designation or working toward a CPA
- Experience in wholesale, distribution, inventory, or manufacturing
- Experience with ERP systems (Acumatica is an asset)
- Interest in hobbies, model building, tabletop gaming, anime, or collectibles
