Immediate need for a Director of Finance (DOF) for a Country Club in Palm Beach County. The Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, this includes annual budgeting, monthly forecasting and management reporting functions. The Director of Finance will have joint responsibility in developing and executing strategies to improve business management processes and financial performance of the Country Club and Property Owners Association (POA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting. Ensure accurate and timely financial records in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports. Present financial results to the General Manager and Board of Directors and POA
  • Prepare and manage the annual operating budget and financial forecasts
  • Oversee the entire payroll process to ensure accurate and timely payment to all employees.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local payroll regulations. Maintain and update all employee payroll records. Manage all payroll related issues and inquiries from employees.
  • Create, maintain and update all Club employee files
  • Establish and maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard club assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Coordinate annual audits and tax filings with external auditors. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to not-for-profit organizations
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and investment activities. Oversee the management of the club’s reserve funds in alignment with financial policies and POA
  • Oversee the accurate and timely billing of member dues, fees, and other charges. Manage collections and address any related issues
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision making. Analyze financial performance and trends to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Supervise and develop the accounting team, ensuring that staff members are trained, motivated, and performing at their best. Foster a collaborative and results-driven work environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, or a related field. Experience in a member-owned organization or country club environment is a MUST.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a hospitality field.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial management principles and higher-level mathematical thinking.
  • Microsoft Office experience is a must (Advanced Excel user)
  • Solid accounting system and database software experience. JONAS Club Software.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintain confidentiality.
