Title: Director, Corporate Development & M&A

Company: The Sustainable Partnership

Location: New York, United States

We're partnering with an established US clean energy business with a portfolio of operating renewables and energy storage assets and a growing pipeline. The firm is well-positioned in the energy transition and focused on delivering power that is affordable, reliable and resilient at scale.

This is a senior, high-visibility hire within the finance team. Reporting into senior leadership, you'll help drive the firm's Corporate Development and M&A activity and play a central role in shaping its next phase of growth.

The role

You bring a genuine understanding of power markets alongside both asset-level and portfolio/corporate M&A experience. You're comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution, working across a collaborative, fast-moving team, and helping build out capability as the business scales.

What you'll do:

  • Partner with senior leadership to identify acquisition and divestiture opportunities aligned to the firm's strategic goals
  • Build and maintain a network of industry contacts, financial sponsors and investment bankers to source opportunities
  • Attend industry conferences, research adjacent markets and track competitor activity to surface prospects that fit the platform
  • Run rigorous analysis to provide detailed insight and guidance on potential transactions
  • Lead due diligence and integration, coordinating cross-functional teams throughout the process
  • Negotiate price and deal terms, build financial models to support valuation, and set benchmarks for post-close planning
  • Mentor junior team members and help develop the next generation of talent
  • Recruit strong people into the team
  • Support finance-related special projects as they arise

What we're looking for

  • 7+ years in corporate development, private equity or investment banking, with an energy focus
  • A track record of driving multiple deals from sourcing through to integration, and managing complex negotiations end to end
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated, solutions-oriented and comfortable in a fast-moving environment
  • A collaborative team player who works effectively across departments and seniority levels
