Our client is a well-established international education group in Hong Kong with a strong reputation for academic excellence, governance, and long-term institutional development.
They are now looking for an experienced Deputy Director of Finance to join their senior finance leadership team. This is a key role for a mature finance professional who can operate at both strategic and operational levels, ensuring strong financial management, effective controls, and high-quality support across a sizeable and complex organization.
About the Role
Reporting to senior finance leadership, you will play a core role in overseeing finance operations, strengthening internal controls, supporting governance requirements, and driving continuous improvement across finance processes and systems.
This is a hands-on leadership position suited to someone who enjoys both leading a finance team and partnering with senior stakeholders across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
- Support senior finance leadership in managing the overall finance function
- Oversee daily finance operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with internal policies
- Review month-end closing, reconciliations, management reports, budget and forecast reports
- Coordinate and support external audit matters, including audit planning, fieldwork, and follow-up actions
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, accounting standards, internal controls, and governance policies
- Support finance-related reporting and submissions for senior management and governance committees
- Provide guidance on procurement matters and review purchase orders when required
- Work with internal teams, IT, and external vendors on finance system enhancement and process improvement
- Promote standardization and best practices in finance operations and system usage
- Mentor, guide, and support finance team members across different levels
- Work closely with academic and administrative departments on finance-related matters
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Professional accounting qualification such as HKICPA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent
- Around 10–12 years of solid accounting and financial management experience
- At least 6 years of managerial experience
- Strong experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audit coordination, internal controls, and finance operations
- Experience working in a sizeable or complex organization
- Education sector experience would be an advantage, but is not essential
- Strong leadership mindset with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution
- High level of integrity, maturity, sound judgment, and discretion
- Good stakeholder management skills, with confidence in working with senior management and cross-functional teams
- Strong computer literacy, including Excel and PowerPoint
- SAP / ERP system experience would be highly preferred
- Good command of written and spoken English, Cantonese, and Putonghua
