Job Description – Business System Analyst – Data Governance
The BSA will act as a bridge between business data owners, stewards, compliance teams, and the Purview technical team. Your role is to gather requirements, define governance processes, coordinate domain onboarding[BS1] [BS2] , validate metadata and classification outputs, and ensure each domain meets the maturity milestones defined in the roadmap.
Key Responsibilities
1. Requirements Gathering & Domain Engagement
- Facilitate workshops with Payments, Lending, Deposit, Client, and Finance data owners
- Document business requirements for metadata, glossary, classification, and retention
- Maintain the governance backlog and ensure readiness for each monthly milestone
2. Metadata & Glossary Enablement
- Work with stewards to define glossary terms, definitions, and ownership
- Validate metadata scan results and identify gaps or inaccuracies
- Support creation of metadata quality rules and scorecards
- Coordinate lineage validation with SMEs
3. Classification & Sensitivity Labeling Support
- Document classification rules for PII, PCI, AML, and regulatory data
- Validate classification results with stewards and SMEs
- Support exception handling, false positives, and rule refinement
4. Retention & Disposition Requirements
- Work with compliance, legal, and domain teams to define retention schedules
- Map datasets to retention categories
- Document business rules for retention and disposition workflows
- Support Payments retention pilot and enterprise rollout
