Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with strong domain expertise in Payments and Cards within the Financial Services sector. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in delivering payment transformation initiatives, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to translate complex business requirements into functional solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements for payments and card-related initiatives.
  • Translate business needs into functional specifications, process flows, and solution designs.
  • Support delivery of projects involving card processing, NPP, and payment systems.
  • Work closely with IT, product, and operations teams to ensure alignment between business and technical solutions.
  • Perform business process mapping (As-Is / To-Be) and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder discussions, and requirements validation sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in testing, UAT coordination, and defect management.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations and maintain strong working relationships across teams.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst in the IT industry within Financial Services.
  • At least 3+ years’ experience in Payments projects (preferably:
  • Australian card processing / Visa environment, OR
  • Australian NPP (New Payments Platform)).
  • Strong experience with core banking/payment systems.
  • Exposure to payments messaging standards:
  • ISO8583 / AS2805 / ISO20022
  • Good understanding of PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance.
  • Strong skills in:
  • Requirements gathering and documentation
  • Functional design and specifications
  • Stakeholder engagement and communication
  • Proven ability to analyze and translate complex business requirements into actionable solutions.
  • Experience in business process modelling and mapping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools:
  • Visio, SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with BABOK framework
  • CBAP certification (preferred but not mandatory)
