ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Fortune Business Management Limited is a growing professional services firm delivering Virtual Finance Functions (VFF), business advisory, and strategic finance support to SMEs across New Zealand and international markets. We are seeking an Associate Accountant / Assistant Accountant to join our team in Hamilton.
This role is purpose-designed as a pathway into becoming a Virtual Finance Function specialist and business advisor — not just an accountant.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting & Compliance
• Prepare financial statements and working papers
• GST, income tax returns, and IRD filings
• Bank reconciliations and general ledger management
• Support payroll and accounts processing
Client Support
• Work with SME clients and respond to queries
• Assist in month-end and year-end processes
• Maintain accurate and structured financial records
Advisory Exposure
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis
• Prepare management reports and KPI dashboards
• Assist in improving client processes and systems

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• 1–3 years of accounting experience (public practice preferred)
• Relevant qualification or working towards CA / CMA / CIMA / ACCA
• Understanding of NZ tax basics is a plus
• Experience with Xero, MYOB, or similar platforms
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills
