Assistant Management Accountant Crewe | £33,000 (depending on experience) | Office-based Looking for a role where you can genuinely develop your career rather than just process numbers? We’re looking for an ambitious Assistant Management Accountant to join a growing and successful business based at our head office in Crewe. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside an experienced Management Accountant, learn the ropes of a complex commercial operation, and gradually take on more responsibility as your skills develop.
With a turnover of over £200m, there’s plenty of variety, challenge and opportunity to make an impact. You’ll gain exposure to management accounting, commercial reporting, stock and margin analysis, and take ownership of the company’s foreign currency (FX) trading process. What’s on offer? The Role This is a broad position split between management accounting and FX deal management. You’ll work closely with the current Management Accountant, who has recently reduced her hours and is looking to pass on her knowledge over time. This creates a genuine succession opportunity for someone who wants to develop into a more senior management accounting role in the future.
Alongside this, you’ll take ownership of the company’s foreign currency forward contract process. Don’t worry if you’ve not managed FX deals before – the key is having strong attention to detail, a commercial mindset and the ability to understand how transactions flow through the business. What You’ll Be Doing Management Accounting Supporting the production of monthly management accounts Assisting with journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations Analysing stock movements, costs, margins and business performance Supporting reporting on trading activity and profitability Helping maintain strong financial controls and month-end processes Assisting with year-end audit preparation Learning existing processes with a view to taking on greater responsibility over time FX Deal Management Managing and maintaining the company’s foreign currency forward contract position Recording, monitoring and reconciling FX deals Matching currency contracts to underlying purchases and sales Maintaining accurate records of open and closed positions Monitoring maturity dates and exposure levels Working closely with finance, commercial teams and external providers Maintaining clear audit trails and supporting financial reporting requirements Identifying ways to improve reporting, controls and processes About You We’re open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds, but you’ll ideally have:
Experience in an Assistant Management Accountant, Management Accounts Assistant or similar finance role AAT qualification or be actively studying ACCA/CIMA/AAT Strong Excel skills and good attention to detail An analytical and commercially minded approach Confidence working with large volumes of data A genuine interest in developing your management accounting career The ability to build relationships across finance and operational teams
