Accounting/HR Assistant Jobs in Kalamazoo, USA at St. Joe Tool Co.
We are seeking a talented Accountant/HR Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the CFO to maintain accurate financial records and ensure the company’s compliance with all legal requirements. Your responsibilities will include recording and verifying A/R, A/P, GL, intercompany transactions, credit card transactions, payroll time verifications in ADP, and new hire setup. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and has a strong understanding of GAAP, reconciliations, JE’s, cost accounting, wage & hour laws, and best practices in accounting.
In addition, this person will assist with company parties, branded merchandise, and employee incentive programs.
Responsibilities
- Verify accuracy of transactions that have been entered & vetted with proper backup
- Maintain monthly GL and Balance Sheet schedules
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Manage quoting & purchasing for shop and office supplies
- Maintain Customer and Vendor credit profiles
- Conduct annual internal W-9, I-9, 1099 audits
Qualifications
- AS degree in Accounting or Finance with 7+ years of experience
- BBA degree in Accounting or Finance with or without experience
- 5+ years’ experience with Microsoft Excel, Quick Books, Sage, ERP or other accounting systems
- Advanced Excel, Macros, INDEX-MATCH, or Pivot Tables is a plus
- Experience with Accounting System Conversions is a plus, but not required
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and communication skills
- Must be a self-starter and work well independently
