Your new company
A growing civil construction business based in Murrarie is seeking an anAccountant to join their finance team during an exciting period of growth. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant looking to deepen their exposure to construction and project accounting, while working closely with an experienced and highly supportive CFO. The business operates in a fast‑paced, delivery‑focused environment and offers genuine career progression, modern facilities and a collaborative, social team culture.
Your new role
Reporting to the CFO, you will support the end‑to‑end finance function with a strong focus on project and management accounting.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Month‑end close activities including journals, accruals and prepayments
- Balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
- Preparation of monthly management reports
- Cash flow forecasting and cash management support
- Project accounting including:
- WIP and billings in advance
- Job costing and labour costing journals
- Progress claims, variations and retention tracking
- Supporting budgets and rolling forecasts
- Compliance and statutory reporting including BAS, QLeave, QBCC and WorkCover
- Partnering with project managers and operational teams
- Supporting AP/AR as required
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree qualified in Accounting or Finance
- CA or CPA qualified, or working towards
- 3–5 years’ experience in an accounting role, ideally within construction or project‑based environments
- Strong Excel skills (pivots, lookups, reconciliations)
- Ability to work in a deadline‑driven, operational setting
- High attention to detail and strong communication skills
