The VP of Operations leads operational execution, scalability, and accountability—holding full P&L ownership, acting as the executive sponsor for the ERP system (Microsoft Business Central), driving cross-functional collaboration, and fostering ongoing process improvement.

This role is responsible for ensuring that operational strategies support overall corporate goals, regulatory compliance, and commercial expansion, while consistently upholding top standards of quality, safety, and cost efficiency.

As a hands-on and prominent leader, this position demands extensive operational expertise, strong financial skills, and the ability to navigate and lead within complex, regulated manufacturing environments.

  • Take responsibility for overall operational P&L, managing COGS, gross margin, labor productivity, capital investments, and operating expenses.
  • Operational Leadership & P&L Stewardship
  • Collaborate with Finance to build, oversee, and project annual budgets, operating plans, and multi-year expansion and capital strategies.
  • Accelerate margin improvement through optimizing yields, launching cost reduction programs, evaluating make-or-buy options, and enhancing operational efficiencies.
  • Set and maintain clear accountability for financial and operational results across all operational departments.
  • Manufacturing & Production Management (Subtractive & Additive Processes)
  • Direct daily manufacturing activities across powder processing, forming, sintering/HIP, machining/grinding, finishing, inspection, packaging, and patient-specific/additive manufacturing workflows.
  • Ensure production operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance.
  • Increase throughput, ensure timely deliveries, optimize yields, and maintain quality, balancing production capacity and market demand.
  • ERP & Systems Oversight (Microsoft Business Central)
  • Act as the executive sponsor for the Microsoft Business Central ERP platform.
  • Guarantee rigorous and accurate ERP usage for inventory control, production planning, cost tracking, lot traceability, procurement, and financial reporting.
  • Work alongside IT, Finance, and Operations teams to refine ERP processes, reporting, and functionality upgrades.
  • Safeguard ERP data quality to meet regulatory standards (traceability, DHR/DMR), financial requirements, and operational needs.
  • Production Planning & Scheduling Alignment
  • Supervise and work closely with the Production Scheduler to synchronize manufacturing plans with sales demand, inventory levels, and capacity limitations.
  • Manage both immediate production execution and broader planning for standard and custom products.
  • Implement robust Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and demand forecasting suited to a regulated medical device environment.
  • Quality System Integration & Regulatory Compliance
  • Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory leaders to ensure operational adherence to ISO 13485, FDA QSR (21 CFR 820), and company design transfer protocols.
  • Lead operational readiness for audits, inspections, process validations, and regulatory submissions relating to manufacturing.
  • Maintain disciplined documentation, batch traceability, nonconformance resolution, CAPA implementation, and ongoing process improvement.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) & Scale-Up
  • Guide operational participation in design transfer, process development, validation (IQ/OQ/PQ), and production scale-up for new product launches.
  • Develop and enforce definitive NPI stage gates from prototype through to commercial rollout.
  • Confirm operational preparedness aligns with sales launch timelines, preserving quality and compliance.
  • Supply Chain & Vendor Relations Management
  • Lead supply chain activities including supplier selection, performance tracking, dual-source strategies, and risk reduction.
  • Assess and manage third-party manufacturers, specialty suppliers, and key vendors.
  • Guarantee reliable supply of materials/services while upholding quality, cost, and delivery standards.
  • Leadership, Organizational Effectiveness & Culture
  • Build, manage, and mentor a high-performance operations team spanning manufacturing, production planning, facilities, and operational excellence.
  • Define clear performance indicators, accountability expectations, and succession planning for core operational roles.
  • Cultivate a workplace culture focused on safety, compliance, continuous improvement, and operational rigor.
  • Metrics, Reporting & Executive Communication

  • Safety and regulatory compliance
  • Yield rates, scrap, OEE, throughput, cycle times
  • Timely delivery and backlog management
  • COGS, labor productivity, and margin results
  • Quality indicators (nonconformances, CAPAs, complaints)
  • Develop and deliver concise operations updates for senior leaders and the Board of Directors.
