Company Overview We are a leading production homebuilder based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, dedicated to delivering high-quality, affordable homes to families across North Texas. As we continue to expand our footprint and deliver excellence in every community, we are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Finance to join our executive team.
Position Summary The Vice President of Finance will be responsible for the overall financial leadership of the organization, including oversight of accounting, financial planning & analysis, risk management, capital structure, investor/banking relations, and reporting. As a strategic business partner to the CEO and executive team, the VP of Finance will support our growth initiatives, ensure strong financial controls, and drive operational efficiency in a fast-paced production homebuilding environment.
Key Responsibilities
– Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in alignment with business objectives.
– Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, and forecasts.
– Direct and oversee all aspects of the finance and accounting functions, including internal controls, financial reporting, budgeting, A/P, A/R, job costing, and payroll.
– Manage capital planning, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity management to ensure optimal working capital for ongoing projects.
– Oversee financial modeling and land acquisition underwriting for new developments.
– Interface with banks, investors, and financial partners to secure and maintain project and corporate financing.
– Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements, including GAAP and industry-specific regulations.
– Guide and mentor a team of accounting and finance professionals.
– Assess and implement technology solutions to improve financial operations and reporting.
– Collaborate with operations, purchasing, and construction teams to drive profitability and cost control across all projects.
– Present financial information and recommendations to executive leadership, the Board of Directors, and external stakeholders.
– Lead annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
– Monitor, measure, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) related to financial performance and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
– 10+ years progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 in a senior finance role within residential homebuilding
– Proven knowledge of homebuilder accounting, job costing, budget management, and financial reporting.
– Experience with homebuilder ERP systems (e.g., Sage, JD Edwards, BuildPro, Newstar, etc.) highly desirable.
– Strong understanding of debt/equity structures, land banking, vertical/horizontal development, and construction draws.
– Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
– Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
– Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing finance teams.
– High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
