Role Overview
The VP Finance reports to the CEO and serves as a strategic partner to the CEO, Founder, and Senior Leadership Team, aligning financial strategy with long-term growth and brand objectives.
The VP Finance leads financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, capital allocation, and financial performance management while partnering closely with the Planning organization on demand forecasting, inventory planning, and working capital optimization.
This role extends well beyond traditional accounting oversight. The VP Finance is responsible for driving profitability, strengthening working capital discipline, implementing scalable systems, and preparing the company for future capital events and strategic transactions. While highly strategic in scope, the role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable working within a lean organization and directly leading initiatives that improve EBITDA, cash flow, and operational performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic & Financial Leadership
- Develop and execute a multi-year profitability, cash flow, and capital allocation roadmap aligned with company growth objectives.
- Lead annual budgeting, quarterly financial forecasting, and scenario planning processes.
- Provide forward-looking financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Partner closely with Planning, Operations, and Product teams to evaluate business performance, improve profitability, optimize working capital, and align financial objectives with demand forecasting, inventory planning, capacity planning, and S&OP processes.
- Implement SKU, product, customer, and channel-level contribution margin reporting and profitability analysis.
- Partner with Operations and Product teams to optimize cost accounting, labor absorption, scrap recovery, and precious metal cost management.
- Establish financial KPIs and reporting frameworks across the organization to support data-driven decision making.
- Lead evaluation and implementation of finance-related systems, reporting tools, and process improvements that increase visibility and scalability.
- Develop reporting and accountability mechanisms around inventory productivity, inventory turns, and working capital efficiency.
Accounting & Financial Management
- Oversee accounting operations including AP, AR, payroll, treasury, and general ledger functions to ensure accurate and timely GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
- Strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and reporting accuracy.
- Partner with the Controller to build a scalable finance organization capable of supporting future growth, financing activities, and institutional reporting requirements.
- Establish and maintain weekly cash forecasting and liquidity management processes.
- Improve working capital performance through disciplined management of receivables, payables, inventory investment, and cash conversion cycles.
- Identify and implement automation and AI-enabled workflows that improve efficiency, reporting quality, and financial insight.
Capital, Corporate Development & Growth Readiness
- Evaluate strategic investments, partnerships, acquisitions, and growth opportunities.
- Lead capital planning, banking relationships, and financing activities.
- Prepare the company for institutional diligence, investor reporting, and future capital events.
- Build board-ready financial reporting and strategic analyses.
Legal, Risk, Insurance & Corporate Governance
- Lead legal, insurance, risk management, and corporate governance activities in partnership with external advisors.
- Support financing activities, equity programs, commercial contracts, and strategic transactions.
Leadership & Team Development
- Develop and elevate the finance and accounting organization while fostering accountability, ownership, and professional growth.
- Establish clear goals, KPIs, performance standards, and development plans across the team.
- Serve as a trusted strategic advisor and thought partner to the CEO and Founder.
- Collaborate effectively with Planning, Operations, Product, Marketing, and Technology leaders to align financial objectives with business execution.
Finance Systems & Process Improvement
- Lead finance systems, reporting, and process improvement initiatives that improve scalability and decision-making capability.
- Serve as executive sponsor for finance-related components of ERP, reporting, planning, and business intelligence platforms.
- Partner with Technology and Data teams to improve financial data quality, governance, automation, and enterprise reporting.
- Drive adoption of automation, AI-enabled workflows, and modern finance technologies that improve forecasting, reporting, and operational efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; MBA or master’s preferred.
Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including ownership of FP&A, financial strategy, or finance leadership roles in growth-stage companies.
- Experience in a $15M-$150M omnichannel consumer products company, preferably ecommerce, retail, and manufacturing.
- Demonstrated success improving EBITDA through margin expansion and operational discipline.
- Experience supporting financing, recapitalization, or acquisition processes.
- Strong cost accounting and inventory management expertise.
- Deep understanding of inventory-driven working capital management and supply chain finance.
- Experience partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, Inventory Planning, or Manufacturing organizations.
Certification: CPA preferred, CMA considered
