Role Description
The Vice President of Finance (VP Finance) is a senior executive responsible for overseeing the financial strategy, planning, and management of an organization. This role ensures the company’s financial health, drives strategic decision-making, and supports sustainable growth.
Key responsibilities include developing financial strategies, managing budgeting and forecasting, overseeing accounting and reporting, evaluating investment opportunities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements. The VP Finance collaborates with the CEO, CFO, and executive leadership to provide financial insights that guide business decisions and optimize organizational performance.
The VP Finance also monitors financial performance, identifies risks and opportunities, leads financial teams, and implements process improvements to ensure operational efficiency. This role often involves advising on mergers and acquisitions, capital allocation, and long-term financial planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred)
- Extensive experience in finance leadership roles, including financial planning, analysis, and management
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance
- Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and investment analysis
- Proven ability to lead finance teams, mentor staff, and drive organizational financial performance
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills for executive and board-level reporting
- Familiarity with financial systems and ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, etc.)
- Ability to manage risk, optimize capital allocation, and support corporate growth initiatives
- Leadership experience in guiding cross-functional financial strategy and influencing organizational decisions
