Liberty Title & Escrow, under the Fidelity National Financial (FNF) family of companies, is a leading provider of title insurance and settlement services, dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring smooth real estate transactions. We are seeking a Title Examiner/Officer to support our Chicagoland Purchase & Sale operations. This role is responsible for opening and examining title orders, typing and reviewing commitments, handling commercial and residential files, and ensuring clear title for real estate transactions.

The ideal candidate has well‑rounded experience across all areas of Title, strong working knowledge of So‑Pro and Title Point, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment. This position requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, lenders, and internal teams. This is a full-time role, Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, reporting to Chicago branch management.

LOCATION

  • Ability to travel 5-10% for onsite trainings as required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Open new title orders and coordinate required documentation
  • Review and send out search packages to attorneys
  • Type and/or review title commitments for accuracy
  • Manually search and examine title commitments, including complex files
  • Handle commercial title files and related underwriting needs
  • Process lender requests including date downs, CPLs, revisions, and wiring instructions
  • Prepare later‑date commitments in support of closing transactions
  • Order surveys, zoning certificates, and related third‑party items
  • Obtain open item tax bills and estimates of redemption
  • Review and approve title clearance documentation (company docs, surveys, trusts, etc.)
  • Address and resolve underwriting/title issues
  • Provide title consultations to internal and external stakeholders
  • Pull documents such as deeds and recorded instruments for clients
  • Understand and apply applicable state and local title laws and regulations
  • Communicate with attorneys, lenders, agents, and clients to ensure smooth processing

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 1-3 years of Title Examination or Title Officer experience
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience with Soft Pro strongly preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable title standards and practices
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication
  • Well-organized with proven ability to effectively manage a large pipeline
  • The ability to operate in an extremely fast‑paced environment

COMPENSATION and BENEFITS

This position has the potential to earn compensation in the range of $28.84 – $33.65 hourly based on location and job-related factors such as skillset and experience. Actual rate may vary within the range provided, depending on a number of factors, including skillset, experience and location. The base compensation is one component of the total rewards package offered to our employees, including optional health and welfare insurance (medical/dental/vision/life/disability);

paid holidays, vacation, and sick time off; and matching 401(k) plan and matching employee stock purchase plan.
