The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) seeks to recruit a Ghanaian national as an Accountant for the Ghana Station. The Station Accountant will work with the Ghana Station Administration to manage IITA Ghana Finance and Accounting.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oracle EBS module assignments and control – AP, AR, I-Expense, FA modules
- Internal financial Controls and procedure compliance
- Budget monitoring and control
- Preparation of periodic financial reports of the station
- Carry out FA verification and impairment assessment role
- Maintain all necessary accounting records (electronic and hard copies)
- Check for accuracy before payment of government taxes and ensure prompt payment
- Supervise accounts assistant's work
- Supervise expense claim returns
- Supervise the processing of claim forms for payments
- Supervise the payment of procurements Claims
- Participate in internal and external audits by providing auditors with support documents as requested and provide explanations for audit queries
- Prepare other reports as may be assigned by the Head of Station
- Training and advising newly recruited staff on IITA financial policies and procedures
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation
- Supervision of Banking Relationship and mandate
- Prepare bank transfers and other letters to the bank
- Monthly payroll preparation and closing – Regular staff, STS, Casuals, Consultants
- General Ledger reconciliation – Payroll and others
- Monthly statutory payments supervision and compliance – PAYE, SSF, etc
Requirements
Qualification
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and Professional qualification (CA, ACCA, etc.)
A master's degree will be an advantage
Excellent communication skills and command of English.
Excellent team player, and self-motivated and independent problem solver who excels at prioritization and multi-tasking.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years with related and relevant experience in an International NGO
