Role Description: The Sr. Director of Finance is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in the Atlanta metropolitan area, responsible for overseeing the daily financial operations of Hope Atlanta. This role manages daily operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations; collaborates on grant management; and assists with budget planning and general ledger management. The Sr. Director of Finance oversees the monthly closing process and the daily responsibilities, including monitoring cash flow, managing restricted funds, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and coordinating annual audits. The role also involves leading and developing the finance team, optimizing financial systems and processes, partnering with program and development staff on budgets and funding proposals, and providing data-driven insights to inform decision-making. The Sr. Director of Finance works closely with the Chief Financial Officer to develop policies and procedures, prepare monthly financials, manage organizational expenditures, and help to maintain financial health and sustainability in support of Hope Atlanta’s mission.

Qualifications

  • Strong expertise in financial management within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • Proficiency in managing daily accounting operations
  • Experience with grant accounting, fund accounting, and compliance with GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and financial systems; ability to improve processes and controls.
  • Proven people-management skills, including mentoring and developing finance staff and collaborating across departments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information clearly.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a finance leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
