Job Description:
The Senior Manager will play a key role on the Commercial Finance team, focusing on financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and modeling, with both a strategic and operational lens. This role will help build and modernize the FP&A function and support business decision making to improve corporate results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and maintenance of comprehensive financial models to project the organization’s financial performance and incorporate assumptions, drivers, and variables to create dynamic and scenario-based models that reflect different business situations.
- Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and consolidation of financial processes across the organization
- Analyze and validate key financial and operational metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Prepare clear and concise reports, dashboards, and presentations for executive management and other stakeholders
- Evaluate and help project manage the financial impact of proposed business initiatives and strategies, providing insights into their potential effects on the company’s financial health.
- Create templates and processes for structured financial budgeting, forecasting, and organization wide performance analytics, with training and support for team members on their proper use and interpretation
- Lead the use of visualization techniques/tools and preparation of succinct and clear executive presentations that simplify complex topics and recommendations
- Implement best practices and standardization to enhance the quality and usability of financial and operational models.
- Lead, participate in, and/or support multiple special projects driving financial and organizational strategy.
- Reinforce organizational change by promoting a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence within the finance function.
- Work closely with the VP of Finance and Business Performance on projects related to the assessment, redesign, and optimization of finance processes, controls, and structure to improve efficiency, streamline operations, and enhance decision-making capabilities.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and work one on one with business partners, to understand financial needs and align finance transformation initiatives with business goals
- Evaluate and implement financial technologies and systems to enhance financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis capabilities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors degree in finance/accounting, economics, mathematics, business management, or similar field. CPA (CMA, CA, CGA) qualification an asset.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in financial planning, analysis, modelling and/or finance operations with progressive responsibilities.
- Demonstrated understanding of financial concepts, accounting principles,
- Strong knowledge of finance processes, systems, and best practices
- Robust teamwork and leadership attributes, prioritization skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced demanding environment managing multiple projects.
- Strategic thinking and the ability to provide proactive recommendations to drive business performance.
- Ability to be agile and work in the transformative phase of an organization’s lifecycle
- Attention to detail, collaborative and excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong business acumen and an ability to interpret, manipulate and analyze complex data and communicate insights to financial and non financial business partners in simple language
- Proven financial modelling skills and advanced skills/degree of comfort with Excel (complex formulas, functions, and macros) PowerPoint and other MS Office applications.
- Strong cross-functional background and organizational size and scope exposure to different business life cycles and challenges. Knowledge of various industries an asset.
