As a Sr. Analyst – Financial Analysis, you will own and drive reporting, analysis and opportunity identification related to fees and client assets gathering. You will also play a key role in optimizing and driving transformation of fee-related and other finance processes, developing and applying analytical frameworks to help solve business questions with relevant data and acting as a strategic partner to the business.
Major responsibilities include:
Fee Analysis, Reporting and Forecasting:
Lead monthly review of fee accruals and reconciliation of fee-related data within financial systems to ensure accuracy in reporting and general ledger entries.
Prepare comprehensive reports on fee-related revenue as well as net new client assets including trends, variances, and projections for leadership and other stakeholders. Deliver actionable insights through data-driven analysis to support strategic decisions.
Investigate and explain variances in client fees and asset levels including deviations from forecasts or expectations and provide insights into underlying drivers. Own and drive the enhancement of the understanding of revenue drivers including various factors of organic growth.
Analyze historical trends, net new client assets, and market dynamics to provide accurate fee forecasts, ensuring overall alignment with business strategies and objectives.
Act as a subject matter expert on fee structures and processes, providing guidance on fee-related matters to internal teams and leadership.
Strategic Advisory
Act as a strategic finance partner, providing expert guidance and actionable insights to support business unit decision-making.
Lead or participate in ad hoc initiatives such as process improvement projects, strategic planning sessions, and cost optimization efforts. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate financial implications, develop business cases, and implement solutions that align with the organization’s goals.
Process Optimization and Transformation:
Identify opportunities to enhance fee-related processes, implement best practices, and streamline workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with IT and operational teams to implement system enhancements and tools for improved attribution, planning and forecasting of fees.
Drive transformation within the business unit finance function by identifying inefficiencies, recommending solutions, and implementing advanced tools and systems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or a related field.
5-8 years of relevant experience.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable results
Advanced proficiency in Excel. Expertise in Power BI, Tableau and SQL BI tools strongly preferred
Self-starter capable of working on your own initiative in fast-paced environment
Experience in financial analysis, modeling, data analytics, driving transformation a plus
Salary Range:
$83,100 – 141,300 USD
Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
