JOB SUMMARY

UTSW is seeking an excellent Senior Financial Analyst with exceptional communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills to support our dynamic growing Department of Internal Medicine. This role will provide critical support to our leadership team by delivering departmental analysis related to monthly reporting metrics and assisting in the preparation and evaluation for potential new services. You will also fulfill the department’s action plan and build upon its financial reporting and variance capability to provide division chiefs with accurate and timely reports that enhance transparency and accountability.

Internal Medicine is a multi‑faceted department and the largest on campus, offering growth and development opportunities for our staff. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will have the opportunity to strengthen your leadership skills through mentoring and training.
Software skills that include knowledge of Hyperion, Smartview, Microsoft Excel, and Access, and knowledge of Adaptive Planning tool is a plus. If you enjoy challenging, fast‑paced work and working with top medical leaders, this is the position for you.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, or other related field
  • Experience 4 years of progressively responsible experience in finance and/or accounting with experience in planning, forecasting, and financial analysis

JOB DUTIES

  • Complete complex monthly financial management reports, review all reports for errors and inconsistencies; analyze variations in forecasts and actual performance; determine reasons for variance; develop recommendations for improvement; complete written summaries of financial data.
  • Prepare and/or supervise preparation of monthly financial reports, schedules for annual financial reports, and reports to various government agencies, ensuring conformance with applicable procedures and regulations of the University of Texas System and federal and state agencies.
  • Identify areas of poor performance, present findings, and make recommendations to upper management.
  • Prepare financial models and conduct financial analyses.
  • Maintain controls for policies and procedures for the financial system; develop and maintain delegation of authority for various procedures, such as check requests, refunds, invoice approval, bad debt write‑offs, etc.
  • Complete more complex special projects as requested.
