Title: Senior Financial Analyst

Company: BJRC Recruiting

Location: Markham, Ontario, Canada

Our Client:

A leading Canadian infrastructure and services organization is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis to join its finance team in the Greater Toronto Area.

This role sits at the intersection of finance, strategy, and operations, partnering closely with senior leadership to support financial planning, performance management, and product portfolio oversight across the business.

This position requires four days per week in the office.

Candidates must be currently working in Canada. This role does not offer relocation or sponsorship.

The Role:

This is a high-visibility Senior Financial Analyst role with meaningful ownership across product and portfolio-level financials. The successful candidate will act as a key finance partner to business leaders, owning P&L performance, delivering actionable insights, and driving financial discipline across initiatives.

Reporting into senior finance leadership, the SFA will play a hands-on role in both FP&A and business partnering, working closely with product, sales, and operations teams to support decision-making and performance management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning the P&L for designated product lines and business portfolios, including monthly reporting, variance analysis, and performance insights
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities, with accountability for accuracy and delivery
  • Developing financial models and business cases to support strategic initiatives, pricing decisions, and capital investments
  • Partnering with business leaders to understand key drivers, assess performance, and provide actionable recommendations
  • Presenting financial results, KPIs, and portfolio performance to senior stakeholders, including executive leadership
  • Supporting the development of long-term strategic plans, including 3–5 year forecasts and scenario analysis
  • Building a deep understanding of operational and financial drivers to inform decision-making and improve business outcomes
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with finance, product, sales, and operations teams to align financial planning with business strategy
  • Preparing executive-level presentations and materials for internal and external stakeholders
  • Supporting ad-hoc analysis, special projects, and requests from senior leadership and private equity stakeholders
  • Contributing to process improvements and enhancing reporting and analytics capabilities

This role offers strong exposure to senior leadership and strategic decision-making, making it well-suited for candidates who want to move beyond traditional FP&A and take on true ownership of business performance and financial outcomes.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
  • CPA designation (or in progress) preferred; CFA / MFin / MBA also considered
  • Approximately 3–5 years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or finance business partnering roles
  • Demonstrated experience owning or directly managing P&L / business unit financials (not just supporting)
  • Strong financial modelling and Excel skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Experience presenting financial results and analysis to senior stakeholders
  • Exposure to product, portfolio, or operational finance environments
  • Experience in advisory (valuation or transaction services) or private equity is considered an asset
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-performance environment
