The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

The Senior Financial Analyst manages financial and budgeting responsibilities and other special projects for multiple clinical departments. Reporting to the Manager of Budget and Finance, responsibilities include the following:

NYPH pass-through management:

  • Manages the large and complex NYPH pass-through budget.

  • Prepares annual reconciliation for dean’s office budget meetings.

  • Reconciles to NYPH pass-thru schedule, including ongoing communication with NYPH to resolve discrepancies.

  • Tracks all new and pending funding lines. Fields myriad questions from all levels of the organization.

Accounts receivable management:

  • Responsible for accurately tracking and managing accounts receivable for MSAs, NYPH, and many other outside organizations.
  • Monitors past due payments and works with outside organizations to collect and keep receipts current.
  • Reconciles bank accounts and works with FPO and the controller’s office to transfer payments between the offices.

Accrual reporting:

  • Works with controller’s office to prepare complex monthly/quarterly/annual accruals for more accurate and time-sensitive reporting.
  • Fields questions about invoicing, agreements, and other complex accrual calculations.

Malpractice management:

  • Works with onboarding officer to make sure physicians’ classes and charges are correct.
  • Works with CMO to ensure credits are received for termed physicians,leaves, etc.

Budgeting:

  • Responsible for making sure areas of oversight are accurately budgeted for the annual budget and throughout the year for quarterly current estimates.

Financial Report preparation:

  • Routinely prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual transfers within Surgery and to outside departments.

  • Oversees finances of the Heart Source collaboration with Cardiology.

  • Prepares complex revenue assessment reconciliations.

  • Maintains thorough understanding of the University’s financial system (ARC).

Ad hoc reporting and analysis:

  • Prepares many one-off reports and analyses on demand as requested by supervisor and CFO. These often have to be prepared on short notice with limited information.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education, plus 3 years of related experience.
  • Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Intermediate to advanced level MS Office skills, People Soft, Adobe and Visio.

  • Must have strong organizational skills and capable of working independently as well as

  • Must be detail oriented and be able to handle competing priorities.
