Sierra Executive Solutions, Inc. (SES) is a 3rd party search firm recruiting for a manufacturing client company's Senior Financial Analyst career opportunity. This is a newly created and key position reporting directly to the Controller and with a rapidly growing organization. The company culture and benefits are superior to most organizations located in Northern Nevada. Local candidates will be given preference for interview.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Evaluates manual and automated financial accounting work processes, systems, and procedures for efficiency of workflow and conformance to principles of government accounting.
2. Gathers information on processes, organizational structure, policies and procedures, and computer technology; identifies and develops needed process improvements and analyzes system design alternatives for new financial accounting systems and improvements to existing systems.
3. Obtains input and feedback on system needs from appropriate parties; assigns and reviews the work of accounting and systems analysis and programming staff in developing or modifying systems.
4. Coordinates the design, modification, and implementation of process improvements and design alternatives.
5. Interacts with centralized data processing staff to resolve issues and problems related to platforms and data processing staff to resolve issues and problems related to platforms and data communications.
6. Conducts or obtains evaluations of system performance and makes modifications or adjustments as necessary.
7. Reviews and evaluates proposals for new departmental systems involving financial accounting methods, policies, and procedures, and recommends needed improvements.
8. Evaluates internal controls and security of new and existing automated accounting applications to ensure adherence to auditing standards; monitors the procurement, development, and implementation of those systems to ensure proper integration with other financial accounting systems.
9. Prepares and presents comprehensive evaluations, proposals, and recommendations to executive management, advisory committees, and elected officials; prepares specifications and documentation, such as user manuals and systems/code documentation, for new and revised computerized accounting systems.
10. Responsible for overseeing departmental budgets and performing corresponding variance analysis, cash and revenue forecasting, project and cost analysis and reporting, inventory analysis, and other finance/accounting data analysis and ad hoc reports requested by management.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, computer science, or a related field.
- 4+ years of increasingly responsible experience in the design and implementation of financial analysis and accounting systems and functions that include budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting and ad hoc financial accounting data analysis and reporting.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including internal control systems and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
- Knowledge of computer systems and programming; advanced database technology and database design methods; and a variety of computer mainframes and independent operating platforms. Experience with NetSuite ERP is strongly preferred.
- Advanced MS Office Suite skill set to include demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel proficiency.
