Role Overview
We are a fast-growing business looking for a highly capable, commercially minded Finance Senior Manager to support and strengthen Goose & Gander’s finance function during our next phase of growth.
This is a key role within the business, responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and providing clear commercial insight to support decision-making across the company. You will work closely with the CEO, founders, and leadership team, acting as a trusted partner to help translate financial performance into actionable insight.
The role combines strong technical finance capability with commercial awareness, supporting budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis, while helping to evolve finance processes in line with a scaling business. You will play an important role in ensuring the business has the financial visibility, discipline, and structure required to grow sustainably.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Management, Reporting & Cash Control
- Support day-to-day finance operations, ensuring accurate accounting, strong controls, and compliance with statutory requirements
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial statements, and supporting analysis
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, working with external accountants and auditors
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of issues
- Deliver clear financial reporting and insights to support decision-making
- Support rolling forecasts, budgeting, and reforecasting processes
- Assist in developing financial models, including scenario and sensitivity analysis
- Support cash flow forecasting and working capital management
- Monitor cash performance and highlight risks and opportunities
- Help maintain accurate standard costing and variance analysis
- Contribute to improving finance systems, processes, and controls as the business scales
- Support VAT, payroll, and tax processes in collaboration with external advisors
Commercial & Strategic Support
- Partner with the CEO and leadership team to provide financial insight that supports business decisions
- Analyse performance across channels, including profitability, margins, and cost drivers
- Support pricing, promotions, and cost optimisation initiatives
- Assist in evaluating growth opportunities, product launches, and investment decisions
- Contribute to financial modelling and business cases
- Identify risks and opportunities, providing clear recommendations
- Help align financial planning with broader business strategy
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners
- Support budget owners in understanding financial performance and accountability
- Communicate financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
- Contribute to a culture of financial discipline and continuous improvement
What We’re Looking ForEssential
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
- Experience in a Finance Manager / Senior Finance role or similar
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience in month-end processes
- Experience producing management accounts and financial reporting
- Commercially minded, with an interest in cost control and profitability
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into insight
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Proactive and able to take ownership of responsibilities
- Experience using Xero
Desirable
- Experience in retail, fashion, e-commerce, or a growing SME
- Understanding of inventory and multi-channel business models
- Experience supporting business growth or scaling operations
- Exposure to tax, VAT, and compliance processes
