Our client is an independent sponsor that has been partnering with lower middle market businesses to drive growth and operational excellence since 2013. They take a long-term, hands-on approach to value creation, partnering closely with leadership teams to drive operational improvements, strategic growth initiatives, and smart M&A execution.
THE ROLE
Our client is looking to bring on a PE Portfolio Finance leader who isn’t afraid to jump into the deep end. Your mission? Make sense of newly acquired businesses — starting with the financials — and drive clean, scalable integration. If you like building clarity out of chaos and getting your hands dirty with real operational work, this could be a great fit.
You’ll be parachuted into a 200-person, B2B tech-enabled services business operating in the corporate event production space. With approximately $10M in EBITDA, the company is poised for major growth — but first needs sharper financial visibility, upgraded systems (including a full ERP migration), and stronger post-acquisition processes.
You’ll report directly to the portfolio company CEO and serve as the critical bridge between the management team and the sponsor. Over time, as the platform grows or new acquisitions are added, there will be opportunities to step into broader integration and finance leadership roles across additional businesses.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who’s excited to help shape the next chapter of a growing portfolio — starting now, and scaling from there.
What success looks like:
Make Sense of the Numbers: Quickly get your arms around messy or incomplete data. Build the financial visibility leadership needs to make smart decisions.
Lead ERP and Systems Change: Help transition acquired businesses onto new ERP systems, ensuring data integrity, usability, and reporting readiness.
Drive Post-Merger Integration: Support integration efforts by aligning financial processes, reporting structures, and key metrics across the portfolio.
Spot Opportunities and Risks: Track synergy capture, surface risks early, and identify operational improvements that move the needle.
Tell the Story Behind the Numbers: Translate financial trends into clear, actionable insights for leadership and investors.
Build Better Playbooks: Help design financial integration best practices that make each new acquisition smoother and more scalable.
What you’ll need to bring:
4-6+ years of experience in corporate finance, financial consulting, or transaction services at a top firm (Big 4, advisory, or PE-backed environment preferred).
Strong analytical chops — you know how to pull clarity out of messy data and spot trends others miss.
ERP experience — you’ve supported a system migration, cleanup, or integration project before, and you understand the technical and human side of change.
Experience supporting post-merger integration and financial reporting in a fast-paced, high-change environment.
A proactive, solutions-first mindset — you don’t wait to be told where the problems are.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Location:
Hybrid out of Columbus, OH. You’ll be working closely with the portco and leadership team, so we’re looking for someone excited to be on the ground when needed.
