Senior Accountant Financial Management – NHS Borders
Agenda for Change Band 7: £52,845 – £61,466 per annum, Full Time (36 hours).
About the Role
As a Senior Accountant within Financial Management, you will play an important role in providing high‑quality, accurate and timely financial information to support decision‑making across the organisation. The role covers a broad and varied remit, including monthly financial reporting, analysis of expenditure and trends, forecasting the Board’s financial position, and supporting budget setting and budgetary control.
You will contribute to the preparation of statutory financial information, including elements of the Annual Accounts process, and ensure that financial activity is reported in line with governance requirements, policies and national guidance. The role also involves providing clear and professional financial advice to non‑financial colleagues, helping them to understand financial information and manage resources effectively.
In addition, you will support the day‑to‑day delivery of the service through supervision and development of staff, contributing to a positive team culture and a continuous improvement approach within Finance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Professionally qualified accountant (CCAB) with solid experience in financial management, reporting and forecasting within a complex organisation.
- Organised, analytical and comfortable working with detailed financial information, while also being able to explain that information clearly and confidently to a wide range of colleagues.
- Proactive and adaptable approach to your work, managing competing priorities and responding positively to change.
- Collaborative, supportive and open to new ways of working as systems, processes and service needs continue to evolve.
- Experience of working in the NHS or wider public sector is desirable but not essential. Candidates with strong transferable skills and an interest in a healthcare setting are very welcome to apply.
