We’re partnering with a leading insurance organization to hire a Senior Accountant, Reinsurance Accounting & Reporting to support their Canadian operations.
This is a high-impact role with strong exposure across finance, actuarial, and operations, where you’ll lead key accounting processes, client profitability analysis, and financial reporting for North American entities.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead reinsurance accounting and financial close processes across North American legal entities
- Manage accounting for premiums, commissions, claims, and related cash flows
- Oversee client profitability analysis and complex profit commission calculations and settlements
- Perform and review reconciliations, resolve reporting issues, and ensure data integrity
- Design and maintain effective internal controls and support audit processes
- Own management reporting, including quarterly results, forecasts, and key business metrics
- Partner cross-functionally with Actuarial, Pricing, Claims, Operations, and IT
- Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements
- Lead UAT/testing for financial system upgrades and support implementation of new tools
What We’re Looking For
- 6–8+ years of experience in reinsurance accounting, insurance finance, or financial reporting
- CPA designation required
- Strong knowledge of IFRS 9 & IFRS 17
- Experience with financial close, reporting, and client profitability analysis
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Oracle Fusion, Power BI, or SQL is an asset
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across functions
- Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
