About The Role

Hutt City Council is establishing an interim Water Billing team to support the transition of water services to the new water entity, Tiaki Wai.

Our Finance team plays a critical role in ensuring billing is accurate, timely, and transparent – protecting revenue integrity while maintaining community trust.

We’re looking for Revenue Officers to deliver core billing and revenue administration services within this new function. You’ll work closely with the wider Water Billing Team to support billing cycles, maintain data accuracy, and respond to customer enquiries.

In This Role, You Will

  • Process routine billing and account transactions in line with approved policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate customer and property data to support billing integrity
  • Support receipting, allocation of payments, and reconciliation activities
  • Respond to customer enquiries relating to invoices, payments, and account balances
  • Escalate complex or non-routine issues appropriately
  • Contribute to service continuity during peak billing periods and operational change

This is a structured, high-volume role where attention to detail and consistency are essential.

About You

You’re detail-focused, organised, and comfortable working with financial systems in a busy operational environment. You understand the importance of accuracy and customer service when working with billing and revenue.

You Will Bring

  • Experience in billing, revenue, customer accounts, or financial administration
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Confidence working with financial or customer billing systems
  • The ability to explain billing or financial information clearly and professionally
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • A willingness to learn new systems and processes

Experience in local government, utilities, or a regulated environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
