About the Venture Capital and Private Equity Principals Company / The Opportunity:
This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role offering direct exposure to the entire investment lifecycle, from evaluation and execution to portfolio management and firm building. You will work alongside seasoned investment professionals and industry operators to help unlock growth for lower-middle market enterprise software and services companies, gaining valuable experience in transforming businesses into market leaders.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, including LBO analyses and operating models for prospective investments.
- Conduct preliminary screening of potential investment targets, including market sizing, competitive analysis, and financial assessment to determine strategic fit.
- Prepare investment screening memos and present findings to the investment team.
- Lead workstreams during due diligence to develop a deep understanding of target companies’ operations, markets, products, and teams.
- Coordinate with external advisors including lawyers, accountants, consultants, and industry experts during transactions.
- Prepare investment committee memoranda, presentations, and supporting documentation.
- Support deal structuring, term sheet development, and negotiation.
- Collaborate with portfolio company leaders post-transaction to drive operational improvements, support M&A activities, and monitor company performance.
- Contribute to internal firm initiatives including process improvement and knowledge development.
Must-Have Skills:
- Minimum 2 years of Investment Banking or Accounting experience, or at least 1 year of Private Equity investment experience (strict requirement).
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, including development of LBO and operating models.
- Experience conducting due diligence and synthesizing complex data into actionable investment recommendations.
- Exceptional project management, organization, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree from a top university with a strong academic record.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Direct experience with buyouts of software, technology or tech-enabled services companies.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with management, advisors, and intermediaries.
- Prior involvement with portfolio company operational improvement or post-acquisition value creation.
- Experience supporting M&A initiatives, including target identification and integration planning.
- Familiarity with CRM and knowledge management systems within a private equity environment.
