KFA is pleased to announce our Fall 2026 Private Equity Internship Program — a 10-week, hands-on experience for students and recent graduates who are serious about careers in private equity, company building, and long-term value creation.
Building on the success of our inaugural 2025 cohort, this year's program is built around two five-week modules: one focused on real investment work, and one focused on real operating work. Interns finish the program having sourced and pitched an original investment idea in the greater St. Louis region — and having helped build and scale actual businesses inside the KFA portfolio.
Internship Overview
• Duration: 10 weeks (two 5-week modules)
• Start Date: September 2026
• Format: Hybrid (St. Louis) with remote flexibility for U.S.-based candidates
• Time Commitment: 5–15 hours per week (designed to fit alongside school or other work)
• Application Deadline: Rolling, with first cohort deadline on August 21, 2026
Module 1 (Weeks 1–5): The St. Louis Investment Project
Each intern will source, research, and build an original investment idea in the greater St. Louis region — then present it to KFA leadership in a formal, investment committee–style pitch.
During this module, you'll work on:
• Deal Sourcing: Researching industries, identifying acquisition targets, and mapping the St. Louis market landscape
• Market Research: Competitive analysis, market sizing, and thematic landscape reviews
• Financial Analysis: Building models and valuation work to support your thesis
• Diligence Fundamentals: Interpreting financial statements, organizing data, and pressure-testing your assumptions
• The Pitch: Presenting your investment idea to KFA leadership, with structured feedback on both content and delivery
Module 2 (Weeks 6–10): Inside the KFA Portfolio
In the second half of the program, interns move from analysis to operations — working directly within the KFA portfolio to help build and scale businesses across our three existing investment themes:
• Education
• Mental Health & Wellness
• Youth & Adult Sports
During this module, you'll work on:
• Growth Strategy: Go-to-market planning, customer acquisition, and expansion initiatives for portfolio businesses
• Operational Value Creation: Building the systems, processes, and tools that help early-stage businesses scale
• Portfolio Monitoring: Tracking key metrics and performance across active investments
• Content & Brand Building: Storytelling and thought leadership through writing, short-form video, podcasting, and social media
• Community Engagement: Supporting programming, partnerships, and impact measurement tied to KFA's community revitalization mission
Throughout the Program: Training & Mentorship
All interns receive BCG- and PE-level training on the foundational skills of the profession — financial modeling in Excel, slide building in PowerPoint, structured note-taking, project planning, and professional communication. You'll also get exposure to KFA's executive advisory and AI strategy work, learning how leaders use emerging technologies to improve decision-making and operating performance.
Who We're Looking For
We are seeking 5–7 high-performing individuals with:
• Strong interest in private equity, investment banking, management consulting, or entrepreneurship
• Undergraduate degree (in progress or completed) in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
• Proficiency in Excel and basic financial modeling (training provided); experience with data visualization or analytics tools is a plus
• Demonstrated analytical skills — the ability to interpret financial statements, market data, and business performance metrics
• Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to present findings in a structured, concise way • Initiative, reliability, attention to detail, and an entrepreneurial mindset
• Passion for revitalizing overlooked cities — a connection to St. Louis or the Midwest is preferred but not required
