JS Careers is pleased to be exclusively working with a leading Australian private equity investor on their appointment of a new Investment Analyst / Investment Associate to join it’s Melbourne-based investment team.

The firm has established an excellent reputation within the Australian mid-market through partnering with founder-led and privately owned businesses, supporting management teams and driving long-term value creation across its portfolio. The team has a strong track record of investing across multiple sectors and offers a highly collaborative investment environment with direct exposure to senior decision-makers.

The successful candidate will be given significant responsibility from an early stage and play an active role in investment execution, portfolio management and fundraising activities. The role suits candidates seeking to build a long-term career in private equity, and excited about the prospect of growing the firm with new funds and products, as well as managing transaction execution and portfolio companies.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluation of new investment opportunities and thematic research
  • Financial modelling, valuation analysis and transaction execution
  • Participation in commercial, financial and operational due diligence processes
  • Preparation of investment papers and investment committee materials
  • Support senior team members with fund development and capital raising initiatives, including investor research, preparation of fundraising materials, due diligence responses and engagement with existing and prospective investors
  • Supporting management teams and value creation initiatives across portfolio companies
  • Working closely with advisers, financiers, management teams and business owners throughout transaction processes

The successful candidate will have:

  • 1.5-6 years of experience gained from a corporate finance team at an accounting firm, investment bank, private equity/direct investment fund and/or corporate development team
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities
  • Team first mentality
  • Culturally aligned to working with founder/family-owned businesses
  • Excellent commercial judgement
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to operate effectively within a high-performing team environment
